Barca confirm second sale in two days

Having confirmed the departure of Arthur to reigning Serie A champions Juventus on Monday evening, FC Barcelona have now confirmed their second sale in two days.

Less than 24 hours after Brazil international Arthur joined Juve in a deal that saw Miralem Pjanic move in the opposite direction, the Catalan giants have now confirmed that defender Marc Cucurella has joined Getafe on a permanent deal.

The left-back, who is also capable of playing in midfield, had been at Getafe since July, when he joined on a season-long loan and will now remain at the club after a €10 million (R194 million) option-to-buy was exercised.

In terms of the agreement, the Blaugrana will also receive 10% of the amount Getafe earn from any future of sale of the 21-year-old, who is a product of the Catalan club's famed La Masia youth academy.

Cucurella made his debut, and only senior appearance for Barca, in September 2017 and also spent time on loan at Eibar. That deal was made permanent last year, although the reigning LaLiga champions immediately activated a buyback clause to take him back to the Nou Camp.

The Alella-born starlet's latest move comes as no surprise after he previously complained that players from Barcelona's academy were no longer afforded the same opportunities as those who had come before them.

"I think that at Barcelona, which is a big club, the important thing is to win in the end," Cucurella said in February, per Bleacher Report.

"Maybe they don't have the patience that they had. As a cantera player, which I am, they don't give you the chances you deserve. I don't like it because I expected they would be more confident in the youth academy..."
