Valverde worried after shock loss

FC Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde admits concern with his side’s form on the road after succumbing to a 3-1 loss away to Levante in LaLiga on Saturday afternoon.

Barca were ahead at the break through a penalty from Lionel Messi, although the home side hit back after halftime with quick fire efforts from Jose Campana, Borja Mayoral and Nemanja Radoja.

The Catalans as a consequence failed to stretch their lead at the top of the standings, though remain at the summit after second-place Real Madrid failed to see off Rea Betis late in the day.

“I must admit that we are having issues away from Camp Nou. I have said this before, and I am concerned about our approach away from home,” Valverde said according to football-espana.

“It’s always important to approach these games in the correct way. But I think that we lost our way in the second half,” Valverde said.

Barca lost their first game of the season away to Bilbao and encountered two draws and a defeat in their following three clashes on the road soon thereafter.

The fortunes looked on the up following three successive triumphs at Getafe, Eibar and Slavia Prague recently until Levante came with a spanner in the works.

Passage to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League lies ahead for Valverde’s men, who welcome Prague in Group F on Tuesday.
