Alves linked with sensational Barca return

Brazil defender Dani Alves, who is one of the most decorated players in FC Barcelona's history, could be set to make a sensational return to the club.

Alves, who currently plies his trade with Sao Paolo in Brazil, is reportedly planning to leave his homeland in the coming weeks in order to return to top-flight football in Europe.

Express Futbol has reported that the 37-year-old is in negotiations with his club over the early termination of his contract, and that a meeting with sporting director Rai has already been planned to discuss his future.

According to Spanish publication Sport, there is speculation the fullback could return to Barca as the LaLiga club seeks to sign reinforcements for the right-back position.

The Catalan giants are in talks to offload Portugal international Nelson Semedo to Wolverhampton Wanderers, which would leave Sergi Roberto as the only recognised right-sided fullback in the squad.

Alves, who made 391 appearances and won 23 major honours during his time at the Camp Nou, is reportedly seen as a possible solution to this problem and could make a sensational return.
