Al Sadd have confirmed that they have agreed to let Xavi Hernandez join Barcelona.
The Qatar-based side has announced that they reached an agreement with the Catalan giants for their former player after it was agreed that his release clause would be met.
The 41-year-old will take over the reigns from the interim head coach Sergi Barjuan.
The CEO of Al Sadd has since spoken about why the decision was made.
"Xavi informed us a few days ago of his desire to go to Barcelona at this particular time, because of the critical stage his hometown club is going through, and we understand this and decided not to stand in his way," Turki Al-Ali said, according to Al-Sadd's official Twitter account.
"Xavi and his family will remain welcome in Doha, and our relationship will continue."
