Fati's father breaks silence on Utd links

Amid speculation linking FC Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati with a move to Manchester United, the record-breaking teenager's father has now shed more light on the rumours.

Earlier this month, United were said to have offered Barca €100 million (R1.9 billion) for the 17-year-old's signature, which was promptly rejected by the reigning LaLiga champions.

The Guinea-Bissau-born forward's father has now revealed that there is no chance of the youngster leaving the Blaugrana, despite facing competition for game time from established stars such as Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann and Lionel Messi.

"Ansu cannot be a starter at Barca for now," Bori Fati told Cadena Ser.

"I have always been happy since my son is at Barca... I don't know anything about [the] Manchester United [rumours], but Ansu and I are comfortable here in Barcelona.

"Everyone who leaves Barca wants to come back later."
