Antoine Griezmann has left FC Barcelona in a surprise deadline-day deal to rejoin Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona and Atletico reportedly began discussions on Tuesday, while there were some reports claiming it would be a swap deal involving Joao Felix.
However, it has now been confirmed that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner rejoins Atletico on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy next campaign.
Statement: "Antoine Griezmann returns to Atlético de Madrid after our club and FC Barcelona reached an agreement over a one-year loan with an option to extend for a further year, renewable by either party."
Griezmann joined Barcelona from Atletico in 2019, but has only managed to register 35 goals and 17 assists in 102 appearances.
The 30-year-old will now return to Los Rojiblancos, with whom he won the UEFA Europa, UEFA Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup previously.
The Blaugrana seemingly found his replacement almost immediately, signing striker Luuk de Jong on a loan deal, which includes an option to make it permanent, from Sevilla.
