The Poland striker, who finished eighth in the rankings for 2019 Ballon d'Or has been overtaken by Lazio striker Ciro Immobile, who has netted a staggering 17 goals in just 15 league outings.

Once ridiculed after flopping at Borussia Dortmund as a replacement for Lewandowski, the 29-year-old has scored seven more than his nearest rival in Serie A, Romelu Lukaku and 10 more than Cristiano Ronaldo.

After an injury-hit start to the season for Messi, he enters the top-five for the first time in the 2019/20 season after scoring 12 goals in the last eight LaLiga games.

Real Madrid's Karim Benzema, with 11 goals in the only other representative of the Spanish top-flight.

Leicester City's Jamie Vardy (16), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (11) and Tammy Abraham (11) represent the Premier League - while Wissam Ben Yedder and Timo Werner complete the list.
