A brace from Karim Benzema helped Real Madrid to a 4-1 victory over Deportivo Alaves in LaLiga on Saturday evening.
Thibaut Courtois, Raphael Varane, Ferland Mendy, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema returnd to the starting line-up after the shock defeat to Alcoyano in the Copa Del Rey.
Real’s intentions were clear early on when Benzema sprung the offside trap to go clear and bring Fernando Pacheco to a save before seeing the rebound off the post and out for a corner-kick.
From the resultant corner, Carlos Casemiro arrived in the centre of the area to send the pin-point delivery from Kroos into the bottom-corner to give his side a well- deserved lead.
Real could’ve added a second to their tally minutes later after a one-two involving Hazard saw the latter drill off target from a promising position.
The second goal arrived five minutes to halftime when Benzema found space in the centre of the area to finish off a flowing passing move involving Hazard.
Hazard switched roles in additional time as he beat the home side’s high-defensive line to get on the end of a long ball to fire in from point-blank range.
Alaves introduced two changes after halftime in Lucas Perez, who replaced Luis Rioja as Borja Sainz slotted in for Ximo Navarro.
Los Blancos were breached a minute before the midway point of the second half when Joselu leaped ahead of the defence to nod in a free-kick from the left-side.
However, any hopes of a comeback from the host was cancelled with 20 minutes remaining after Benzema swerved in from the right to send a low strike into the far corner.
El Glorioso were close to a second late on through a snap effort from a tight angle on the right by Perez, but it went wide as Real saw out the victory.
