Footballer dies on international duty

Curacao international goalkeeper Jairzinho Pieter was found dead in the team's hotel on Monday morning.

Pieter, 31, had been called up to the 23-man squad to face Haiti in a CONCACAF Nations League match on Wednesday.
The eccentric goalkeeper who starred in their King's Cup triumph over Vietnam in June had established himself as stopper since making his debut six years ago.
However, tragedy struck this morning when the Centro Dominguito keeper suffered a cardiac arrest and was found motionless in his room by his teammates, according to ESPN.
Haiti's sports minister Edwin Charles confirmed the death of the footballer via his official Twitter account.
"As Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, I am at the Marriott Hotel to accompany the Haitian Football Federation in the case concerning the death of the player," he wrote.
"This is the goalkeeper of the Curaçao squad, Jairzinho Pieter, victim of a heart attack."
