A footballer has passed away at the age of 22 during a solo training session, his club Lokomotiv Moscow has confirmed.
With Russia currently on coronavirus lockdown, until April 30 and football suspended until May 31, footballers have been forced to train by themselves in order to keep fit.
And 22-year-old Innokenty Samokhvalov is claimed to have passed away after suffering suspected heart failure on Monday.
"On April 20, defender Innokenty Samokhvalov died. The footballer became ill during an individual training session. Details of the tragedy are being clarified," the club said in a statement.
"Samokhvalov left a wife and a son - FC Lokomotiv is shocked by what happened.
Samokhvalov was part of the club's reserve team Kazanka that ply their trade in the Russian third-tier.
"It's horrible. The doctors have told us the cause of death was heart failure," Kazanka coach Alexander Grishin told RIA Novos.
"If the doctors allowed him to train then we must assume he did not have any problems."
