Manchester United are closing in on the signing of AFC Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek after the two clubs agreed a reported €44-million deal.
The 23-year-old midfielder who has been courted by Europe's elite since breaking into the Eredivisie side's first-team squad will become manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first signing of the off-season.
According to SkySports, the deal will be completed this week while van de Beek is on international duty with the Netherlands.
United are expected to fork out a €39m fee outright plus €5m in add-ons to secure the highly-rated talent that was close to joining Real Madrid last season.

Former Real and Tottenham playmaker Rafael van der Vaart lauded the Red Devils impending recruit and tipped him as an ideal signing for the Red Devils.
"Donny deserves this transfer so much," the Netherlands legend told NOS. "He has played excellent for Ajax. And Manchester United really need this kind of player in their team.
"This transfer is fantastic for us [Dutch people] too. We are all going to follow him now. This move is so deserved."
The box-to-box midfielder has scored 41 goals and registered 34 assists in 171 games since graduating from the club's academy system in February 2016.
