CR7 ahead of Messi in Golden Shoe race


Cristiano Ronaldo has moved ahead of Lionel Messi in the race for the European Golden Shoe after scoring nine goals in his last six games.

Ronaldo's rich vein of form continued as Juventus returned to the summit of the Serie A with a 2-1 victory over AS Roma.

The 35-year-old moved second in the race for his first Capocannoniere with 14 goals in 16 games which now ranks him above Messi, who has netted 13 in LaLiga during the 2019/20 season.

He's joined in the top 10 by fellow Italian top-flight strikers Romelu Lukaku and Ciro Immobile, who seemingly opened up an unassailable lead to the Portugal captain a few months ago.

However, for all the incredible exploits of the Portugal captain, he only ranks fifth overall, with Jamie Vardy, Timo Werner and Robert Lewandowski all ahead of him for the coveted honour.

The rest of the list comprises of Premier League stars Marcus Rashford, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Danny Ings.
