Senegal 2-0 Togo

Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane got on the scoresheet as Senegal began their World Cup qualifying campaign on a winning note with a 2-0 win over Togo.

The sides went toe to toe for 56 minutes until Mane broke the deadlock. Paris Saint-Germain defender Abdou Diallo made the result more comfortable in the 81st minute.

Egypt 1-0 Angola

Al Ahly attacking midfielder Mohamed Maghdy scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot as Egypt edged Angola 1-0 in their opening qualifier.

Maghdy netted in the fifth minute to give the Pharaohs the victory without Mohamed Salah, who is expected to be back for the Gabon clash.

Cape Verde 1-1 Central African Republic

Cape Verde and Central African Republic played to a 1-1 draw in their opening 2022 World Cup qualifier.

Julio Tavares gave Cape Verde the lead 36 minutes in before Tresor Toropite equalised for the Central African Republic eight minutes after the break.

Guinea-Bissau 1-1 Guinea

Guinea-Bissau and Guinea could not be separated as the sides played to a 1-1 draw.

Francois Kamano gave Guinea a seventh minute lead but Joseph Mendes ensured the hosts came away with a share of the spoils with his strike just after half-time.

Libya 2-1 Gabon

Libya started their qualifying campaign on a positive note with a 2-1 win over Gabon.

Anre Biyogo-Poko gave the Gabonese the lead in the 11th minute. Ali Salama levelled matters in the 28th minute and then Sanad Al Quarfali grabbed the headlines with an 89th-minute winner in dramatic fashion.

Mali 1-0 Rwanda

Adama Traore was on target for Mali, who recorded a 1-0 victory over Rwanda.

Traore netted the only goal of the contest in the 15th minute to get the home side off to a winning start.
