Al Ahly coach: We don't make excuses!

FIFA Club World Cup

Al Ahly assistant coach Sami Komsan insists they will not look for excuses as they begin the FIFA Club World Cup campaign without a few key players.

The Red Devils are without a number of Egyptian players after the national side reached the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, which takes place on Sunday.

Head coach Pitso Mosimane tested positive for Covid-19, but Komsan is adamant they will do their best with the current players at their disposal.

“We are very happy to be here for the seventh time in the club’s history and for the second consecutive season. We know that our fans want a better position from last year’s third place," Komsan said, as per the club's official website.

“We will try to do our best despite the huge number of absences that we have. We have great faith in the current squad and we know that they are able to overcome all the obstacles. Hopefully, we will meet the fans’ expectations.

“At Al Ahly, we support all of our national teams. In a lot of times, we prioritize the nation’s general good of our own.

“We only concentrate on ourselves. We represent Al Ahly and the club’s history. We respect all our opponents but we focus on ourselves. We are here for the seventh time.”

“We don’t look for excuses. We are working hard and are fully concentrated on tomorrow’s game, as it will be our starting point to the final of the competition. Hopefully, we meet the expectations of our fans.”
