After the surprise acquisition of Kevin Prince Boateng since sanctioning the exits of Paco Alcacer and Munir El Haddadi, fans and media alike have questioned the transfer policy of the LaLiga champions.
With current no.9 Luis Suarez reaching the latter stages of his career, there's been a need for the Blaugrana to secure youthful back-up option to assume the Uruguayan's role in the long-term.
And according to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, they have taken a huge step in landing their number one transfer target in the form of 21-year-old Luka Jovic, who leads the German top-flight scoring charts with 14 goals this season.
Currently, on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt from Benfica, the Serbian attacker has shown tremendous promise and versatility, featuring across the front three and in an attacking midfield role.
And with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Bayern Munich all credited with reported interest, it's been claimed Jovic's agent has given the Blaugrana the lead by agreeing personal terms over a sensational off-season switch.
Despite the reported pre-contract agreement, Barca still have to negotiate a transfer fee with Benfica - who have yet to receive an official offer.
Overall, Jovic has scored 19 goals and registered four assists in 27 games across all competitions.
