Match suspended after Eriksen collapses

Euro 2020

The Euro 2020 Group B Matchday 1 clash between Denmark and Finland has been suspended after Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field.

Eriksen collapsed near the touchline shortly before half-time with his teammates immediately looking extremely concerned for his wellbeing.

The 29-year-old received extensive medical attention, with his teammates forming a barrier around him.

The teams were eventually moved off the pitch after UEFA confirmed the match had been suspended due to a medical reason.

The European football governing body announced that Eriksen was taken to hospital and has been stabilised.

"Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET," UEFA tweeted.

"The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised."
