The latest regarding Greenwood case

English Premier League

Following Mason Greenwood's arrest in January, here is the latest regarding the Manchester United player's ongoing case.

The Englishman has been suspended from playing for and training with United for the past six months after he was arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual assault and threats to kill his former partner at the beginning of the year.

Speculation recently emerged on social media suggesting that the forward will face no sentence and be reinstated with the Premier League side.

It was further claimed the 20-year-old could even join the Red Devils' upcoming pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.

However, according to the Daily Mirror, the footballer will remain on bail as the police investigation into the matter is ongoing and the player is still suspended.

Greenwood's bail was initially set to expire in April, but he received an extension by the police until the middle of June.

With that deadline fast approaching, it remains to be seen whether or not the striker will face jail time.

In April, the Manchester club denied any notion of a potential return to the team for the forward after his player profile was still included on the club's list of first-team footballers on their website.
