The Argentina international broke the hat-trick record in the Premier League with his 12th treble since arriving from Atletico Madrid in July 2011 - moving one ahead of Shearer.
And for his exploits, which manager Pep Guardiola referred to him as a 'legend' after the game, he also moved ahead of Henry as the highest-scoring foreigner in the league's history.
"I just want to congratulate him," said Guardiola, as per The Guardian.
"To achieve this record from incredible legends like Henry and Shearer shows that it is not just for a short period [that Agüero has been scoring], not just one or two seasons.
"It was an honour to be here on the day he achieved that."
With 177 goals to his name, only three players have scored more than Aguero in the Premier League since it's inception in 1992.
