Mane joined Bayern for money? Agent responds!

English Premier League

Sadio Mane's PR agent has addressed the rumours that his client joined Bayern Munich for bigger wages.

The Senegal talisman completed his move to the Allianz Arena last week after Liverpool agreed to part ways with the winger for a total fee of £31.5 million (R612 million), including add-ons, having rejected two previous offers from the Bundesliga side.

Here are Bayern's highest-paid players after Mane's arrival in Germany!

Before the move was concluded, it was claimed the winger wanted to leave the Merseyside club in an attempt to earn a higher salary, with the Reds said to not be willing to give in to his salary demands to extend his stay at Anfield.

Reports had suggested that the African superstar was earning just £100 000 (R1.9 million) a week with the Reds, whereas it is understood he will earn £250 000 (R4.8 million) weekly at his new club.

With the 30-year-old having become one of the highest-paid players at Bayern, his PR agent Bacary Cisse has now insisted that money was not the driving force of Mane's move.

"Those are false rumours," Cisse told TV5Monde, per the Daily Mirror.

"We didn't want to talk about that. A player of Sadio's calibre can't be earning the salary that people are speaking about.

"The numbers circulating are completely wrong.

"Sadio was already earning more than that when he joined Liverpool from Southampton.

"He extended his contract in 2018 and his salary was much higher than the numbers circulating in the media.

"He won everything with Liverpool and it was time to seek a new challenge elsewhere.

"Bayern's project was very attractive. Bayern came knocking. Sadio, his German agent Bjorn Bezemer and I had a discussion.

"Many other very big clubs, that I won't name, wanted Sadio, but when we saw Bayern's project we said, 'That's it, we have to go there'.

"The coach [Julian Nagelsmann] and the sporting director of Bayern [Hasan Salihamidzic] travelled personally to Liverpool, there was a very good meeting in Sadio's house and we discussed the contract."
