'He was better than Ronaldo' - Giggs

English Premier League

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has admitted Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t the best player he played with during his time at Old Trafford.

In a career spanning 23 years, the Wales head coach played with some of the greatest players in world football.

Although he played with five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, the 46-year-old said Paul Scholes was the best player he played with at the Red Devils.

"He’s [Scholes] probably the best United player that I played with," Giggs said, as per Metro.

"People always ask 'who’s the best player you’ve played with' and probably [ability-wise] Cristiano for what he’s gone on to do with Real Madrid, Juventus and Portugal but the best United player I played with was Scholesey.

"There was no other player like him. I felt on my day that I could do what most footballers could do but I could never do what Scholesey did."

The 13-time Premier League winner added: "I think when Scholesey first got promoted he was pretty quiet and let his football do the talking, but you always wanted to be on Scholesey’s team in possession and usually in games as well.

"As soon as Scholesey got the ball and turned you made a run, he didn’t even need to look. He’d be playing the ball exactly where you’d want it."
