Mourinho reacts to Conte appointment

Jose Mourinho has reacted to the appointment of Antonio Conte as Tottenham Hotspur's new manager, with the Portuguese coach seemingly suggesting that the wrong decision was made.

Spurs announced Conte as their new boss on Tuesday after relieving Nuno Espirito Santo of his duties the previous day.

Roma boss Mourinho, however, seemingly believes the sacking of his compatriot was not the right decision, feeling that the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager needed more time at the helm.

"I think Conte is a good coach, but Nuno is a very good coach," Mourinho told Sky Sports ahead of the Serie A side's UEFA Europa Conference League match against Bodo Glimt.

"He did a fantastic job at Wolverhampton for four, five years, not a year or a few months.

"This is why I say that Tottenham have a very good coach now, but they also had one with Nuno.

"Sometimes you have to be patient to achieve results, you have to be ready to suffer, to sacrifice yourself for the group. This is our mentality and we have to improve in this way.

"When I spoke about patience, to improve you need time. To achieve something, we need to go day by day, work hard. What we can do is this."
