Report: Tuchel targets Spain winger

English Premier League

With UEFA Champions League holders Chelsea looking to bring in one or two players in this transfer window, they have reportedly set their sights on an explosive Spain star.

Manager Thomas Tuchel will begin his first full season in charge of the Blues in the coming campaign, and has reportedly put forward a rather surprising name as a transfer target as he looks to bolster his squad.

According to AS, the former Paris Saint-Germain boss has proposed the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore if the Stamford Bridge outfit fails to sign Inter Milan right-back Achraf Hakimi.

The London club is facing some strong competition in their pursuit of the Morocco international, who is reportedly moving closer to a move to PSG, and Traore is seemingly considered a feasible alternative.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Inter are expecting Les Parisiens to make a new bid for Hakimi in the next few days as talks between PSG sporting director Leonardo Araujo and Hakimi's agent continue.

The French giants are reportedly closer to a deal for the former Real Madrid player with a cash offer of €70 million (R1.2 billion) having reportedly been made, while Chelsea are yet to put in an official bid.

Traore, who is usually a winger but can also operate as a wing-back, endured a dismal 2020/21 season, during which he registered only six goal contributions in 41 games across all competitions.

With the 25-year-old Spain international valued at €30 million (R512 million) by Transfermarkt, he would certainly prove a cheaper alternative to Hakimi for the Blues.
