Report: Man Utd move for CR7 return

English Premier League

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Cristiano Ronaldo's agent over a potential return to the Premier League.

United have contacted Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes in order to begin negotiations with the player and Juventus over a potential return to Old Trafford next season, according to reports from Gazetta dello Sport h/t Daily Mail.

It is claimed that the Bianconeri would accept an offer as little as £26 million (R515 million) for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's signature, in order to avoid losing him for free when his contract expires at the end of next season.

However, Ronaldo currently earns around £27 million (R535 million) per year in Turin and would reportedly need to halve his salary in order to complete a move back to England, something which the Portuguese star is said to be unwilling to do.

The 36-year-old has also been linked with a return to Real Madrid in recent weeks, but club chairman Florentino Perez seemingly put an end to speculation once and for all with his comments earlier this week.

"Cristiano's return? No. He has a contract with Juventus. But it doesn't make sense for him to come back. I love him a lot, he has given us a lot," the Los Blancos chief said, per The Sun.

Ronaldo joined the reigning Serie A champions from Real in 2018 and has scored an incredible 97 goals in just 127 matches for the club, winning two league titles and a host of domestic awards since.
