Man City bid £100m for England star

English Premier League

Premier League champions Manchester City have reportedly tabled a bid of £100million for Aston Villa talisman Jack Grealish.

The Citizens are yet to make a major signing ahead of the new season but have been heavily linked with Grealish and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in recent months.

The Telegraph have now reported that the Citizens have now submitted their first bid for the England international, although Villa re not keen on letting him leave.

Various reports in England claim that Villa are prepared to offer their captain £200,000 per week to keep him at Villa Park while City are prepared to double his £130,000-per-week wage.

Former Villa and Liverpool star Stan Collymore has warned Grealish that he could end up in a similar situation to Riyad Mahrez.

"He'd only play a fraction of the 70 games a season City can end up playing like, for instance, Riyad Mahrez after he joined from Leicester," Collymore said in his coloumn for the Mirror.

"But great players, unique individuals like Jack, want to play every game and pull the strings. Or just play in even 80 per cent of the biggest games.

"I don't think being at City would guarantee that."
