Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly ready to battle it out for the signing of a England star next season, who is valued at £100million.

Declan Rice was tipped to leave West Ham United in the recent transfer window after starring at the European Championship where England reached the final.

There was reported interest from Chelsea in recent months, but he Blues opted to sign Saul Niguez on loan from Atletico Madrid on the final day of transfer window.

However, the Sun have now reported that both Manchester outfits could now look to sign the England international next year in an attempts to bolster their midfield.

Many feel the Red Devils' squad is still lacking a solid defensive midfielder despite bringing in Raphael Varane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sacnho in the last transfer window.

City, meanwhile, have extended Fernandinho's contract by another year but it is reportedly highly unlikely the 36-year-old will stay another season.
