With star defender Virgil van Dijk set to potentially miss the remainder of the season, Liverpool have reportedly opened talks to sign a replacement for the Netherlands international.
Van Dijk is set to undergo surgery after a challenge from Jordan Pickford resulted in him suffering ligament damage to his right knee during the Reds' 2-2 Merseyside Derby draw with Everton.
As a result, the 2018/19 UEFA Men's Footballer of the Year will be sidelined for the next six to 12 months as he undergoes rehabilitation, meaning he could miss the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign.

With Van Dijk's absence leaving Liverpool short of options in defence, the reigning Premier League champions have now reportedly opened talks with Schalke 04 to sign Turkey international Ozan Kabak as a replacement in January.
According to the Daily Mirror, Jurgen Klopp's side will offer an initial fee of £20 million (R424 million) for the 20-year-old's signature, with the overall figure rising to about £30 million (R637 million) once add-ons have been included.
