Chelsea are reportedly ready to splash £80million on another Premier League star as Thomas Tuchel continues to bolster his squad.
After losing both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen in the off-season, the Blues are eager to fill the gap in central defence.
The club have already sign Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli but missed out on Jules Kounde, who joined Barcelona last week.
Chelsea have now reportedly turned their attention to Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana, although they have had a bid of £60million rejected.
The Daily Mail have now reported that the London club are now willing to make Fofana the most expensive defender in history as they are willing to go above £80million for the French defender.
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers says Fofana and James Maddison are not for sale, with Newcastle United chasing the latter.
"These players are not for sale. These are very important players to us," Rodgers said, as per Metro.
"We’re in a situation where we need to move some players out but that doesn’t mean getting rid of anyone and everyone and especially not our best assets."
