Newly crowned European champions Chelsea are reportedly prepared to break the Premier League transfer record to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
Despite spending more than £200 million (R3.8 billion) in the market last season, UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea are reportedly planning to splash the cash once again in order to sign in-demand striker Haaland this time around.
The 20-year-old Norway international is believed to be at the top of the Blues' wish list, and the club is reported to be preparing a player-plus-cash deal to secure his signature, which would see Tammy Abraham head in the opposite direction.
However, according to the Daily Express, Dortmund may be unwilling to consider a swap deal for their star man and Chelsea are prepared to launch a club and Premier League record bid if this eventuality arises.
It is claimed that Thomas Tuchel's side could fork out £154.5 million (R2.5 billion) in an attempt to lure Haaland to Stamford Bridge, a deal that would smash the £89 million (R1.4 billion) fee Manchester United paid to sign Paul Pogba in 2016.
That figure is also more than double the sum Chelsea paid to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao three years ago, with the Spanish shot-stopper having arrived in London for a reported club-record figure of £71.6 million (R1.1 billion).
The European champions will face stiff competition for the 2020/21 Bundesliga Player of the Season's signature, however, with the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain among the other clubs who have been credited with an interest in his services.
