Rangnick 'rejects' wantaway star's exit

English Premier League

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has "rejected" the exit request of one of the club’s wantaway stars.

It has not been smooth sailing for the German boss since he was appointed into the role in November 2021.

With a few United players declaring their wish to leave the club, including Anthony Martial and Andreas Pereira, yet another player at Old Trafford is said to be looking for a way out.

Following his side’s narrow 1-0 FA Cup victory over Aston Villa on Monday night, the 63-year-old manager told talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook that two weeks ago, goalkeeper Dean Henderson made a request to leave Old Trafford during this window but that he rejected his plea.

It is claimed that the English shot-stopper is "really unhappy" at his lack of game time as he has only made two appearances this season, with one coming in the Carabao Cup and another in the UEFA Champions League.

Henderson has been playing second-fiddle to the in-form David de Gea, and it is said that Newcastle United would be the frontrunner to land the wantaway star.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper is a product of the United academy, and he rose to prominence during his debut Premier League season with Sheffield United in 2019/20, where he helped them to a ninth-place finish on the table.
