Belgian giants Club Brugge have opened talks with Premier League outfit Tottenham over the transfer of Kenya star midfielder Victor Wanyama.
Wanyama, 28, has fallen down the pecking order under manager Mauricio Pochettino after an injury-hit 2018/19 season in which Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko rose to prominence in the starting XI.
The off-season arrivals of France international Tanguy Ndombele and Argentina star Giovanni Lo Celso have provided further competition in the central midfield area.
With the Harambee Stars talisman yet to feature in the league this season, Brugge are said to have contacted Spurs over his availability for a late transfer swoop as they look poised to qualify for this season's UEFA Champions League group stages.
According to BBC Football, the Belgian outfit who have already acquired Percy Tau and Simon Mignolet from Brighton and Liverpool respectively are close to agreeing a £9m deal for his services.

However, Football London has reported that the English club are holding out for £17m, which could stall any potential contract talks with the former Southampton ace.
Wanyama holds experience of the Belgian top-flight having represented Beerschot AC 54 times between 2008 and 2011 before his move to Scottish Premier League giants Glasgow Celtic.
