Man Utd & Chelsea suffer first losses

English Premier League

Chelsea 0-1 Manchester City

Manchester City ended Chelsea's unbeaten start to the Premier League season after claiming a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were without the services of Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic due to injury, as Cesar Azpilicueta and N'Golo Kante were recalled for the encounter.

For City, Phil Foden was included in the starting line up alongside Gabriel Jesus and Jack Grealish, while Raheem Sterling dropped to the bench.

The first half proved to be quite a dull affair as neither team could carve out a serious opening, with both goalkeepers enjoying a quiet opening 45 minutes.

Thomas Tuchel did have to change his stall in the first half when Reece James picked up a knock and had to be replaced by Thiago Silva.

However, City got the breakthrough 10 minutes into the second half as Joao Cancelo's fell into the path of Jesus, who converted the ball into the bottom corner.

Manchester United 0-1 Aston Villa

Manchester United suffered their first loss of the Premier League season after going down 1-0 to Aston VIlla.

Paul Pogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and David de Gea were brought back into the side after being rested for the Carabao Cup clash this week.

Villa, meanwhile, gave a start to Kortney Hause who replaced Man United loanee Axel Tuanzebe while former United star Ashley Young was only named on the bench.

The visitors had the two best chances in the first half, with Matt Target blazing over the crossbar from close range before Ollie Watkins was denied by David de Gea.

United were dealt a blow before the break when Luke Shaw was forced off with an injury and replaced by Diogo Dalot.

The second half was more of the same for the Red Devils, as Harry Maguire was forced off with an injury of his own which certainly had an effect as Villa grew stronger in the second half.

The visitors got their reward in the final two minutes when Hause lost his marker to head home a corner at the near post to end United's unbeaten run.

United had a chance to rescue a point from the penalty spot, but Bruno Fernandes, not Ronaldo, blazed his spot-kick over the crossbar as Villa held on for the win.
