Manchester United star Phil Jones has hit out at the 'keyboard warriors' who have targeted him on social media over the past few years.
The English defender has been with the Red Devils since 2011, but has not featured for the first team since an FA Cup encounter in January 2020.
Jones says he will be happy when his career is over despite the injury trouble that has disrupted his time at Old Trafford, where he has won five trophies.
“I must be an easy target," the England international has told The Times.
"Every footballer has a tag and unfortunately, mine is, ‘Let’s have a laugh at him.’
“When my career finishes and I’m enjoying my life - and by the way I’m fortunate that I’ll be able to do that - the keyboard warriors will still be in their mum’s spare bedroom, sipping Pepsi that’s flat, eating a Pot Noodle, sitting in their boxers, tweeting.”
Jones has racked up 224 appearances for the Red Devils since joining the club from Blackburn Rovers in 2011, while also winning the Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League and League Cup.
