Guardiola breaks silence on Haaland coup

English Premier League

After dodging questions about it for weeks, Pep Guardiola has finally broken his silence on Manchester City's latest signing, Erling Haaland.

Earlier this week, the Norwegian superstar's move to the Premier League side was confirmed after his release clause at Borussia Dortmund was met by the Citizens.

Here are some expected incomings and outgoings at City ahead of the 2022/23 campaign

The deal for Haaland is reportedly valued at £51.1 million (R1 billion), with City expected to pay £85.5 million (R1.6 billion) in total when agent fees, a signing bonus and other costs are taken into account.

Haaland has already earned a reputation for being one of the best marksmen in the game at just 21 years old, and has scored 85 goals in 88 matches since joining the Bundesliga side from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

Guardiola has now finally shared his thoughts on his new striker.

"It is a decision for the club to make a good sign for the future," the Spaniard told Sky Sports.

"He can come for many, many years hopefully and I am pretty sure he will adapt perfectly to our team but for next season.

"I'm excited in my job but, of course, the players make you a good manager.

"He is an incredible young talent, perfect age.

"I am pretty sure we are going to help him settle as best possible."
