Pep accuses Mane of diving

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola took a dig at Liverpool’s Sadio Mane ahead of next week's top-of-the-table clash at Anfield.

The champions needed an unlikely source in Kyle Walker to get out of jail against the Saints, who had taken a halftime lead through James Ward-Prowse earlier on.

The Reds rallied from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win away to Aston Villa, with Mane netting a stoppage winner to remain six points clear of the second-place City.

Guardiola credited the Senegalese for ‘he’s a special talent’ but was left dissatisfactory at the manner which the marksman at times characterizes his game particularly against the odds.

“It’s happened a lot for Liverpool in the last years (scoring) late on. It’s because he’s a special talent,” Guardiola told BBC.

“Sometimes he’s diving, sometimes he has this talent to score incredible goals in the last minute. He’s a talent.

Liverpool are on course to end their long-awaited drought to the Premier League title, and Guardiola highlights how the European champions have a ‘special character’ to scrape results.

“If it’s one time, two times, ‘we were lucky, we were lucky’, but it happened in the last two seasons many, many times- they have a special character to do that.

“We look at ourselves, we know which team we face, I think they have won 10 and drawn one. Next week we go to Anfield to try and play them,” Guardiola said.
