Pogba 'rejects' new United offer

English Premier League

Paul Pogba has reportedly rejected a new £50 million (R1 billion) contract offer from Manchester United amid reports he could be leaving the club in this transfer window.

According to the Daily Star, Pogba would have netted £350 000 (R7 million) a week on the proposed long-term deal, which would have cemented his place as the second-highest earner at the club behind goalkeeper David de Gea.

It is believed this situation could now compel the Red Devils to consider selling the France midfielder in this window as they do not want to lose him for free at the end of next season, with the player now in the final year of his current deal.

Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be the frontrunners for Pogba's signature, with the Daily Star reporting that United would accept a fee of £60 million (R1.2 billion) from Les Parisiens to avoid a total loss.

The former Juventus midfielder had a strong showing with France at the 2020 UEFA European Championship, and it is understood that PSG could double what United are offering him as his stock has risen.

It will not be a surprise for some if the star does depart Old Trafford after his agent, Mino Raiola, stated in December 2020 that his client wants to leave the Manchester club and that his future lies elsewhere.
