Pogba's warning after sending Utd top

English Premier League

Manchester United star Paul Pogba has sent out a stern warning after his wonder-goal on Tuesday fired the Red Devils to the top of the Premier League standings.

With a much-anticipated clash against reigning champions Liverpool on the horizon this weekend, United leapfrogged their rivals in the Premier League standings on Tuesday after recording a narrow 1-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor.

Man of the match Pogba proved to be the difference-maker on the night after his deflected long-range effort beat England international Nick Pope in Burnley's goal to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side climb to the summit of the league table.

Following the match, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner was quick to credit Burnley for their performance and sent a warning to his teammates that this season's title race was still far from being decided, despite United having overtaken Liverpool.

"It is very hard to play here. They are very strong but we had to stay calm and thankfully the goal came," the 27-year-old said, per the Daily Mirror. "There is still a long way to go so we are going to have to focus until the end."

Pogba will be hoping to replicate his performance when he and his teammates travel to Anfield to face Liverpool this weekend, before playing host to the Merseysiders just six days later in a mouthwatering FA Cup fourth round fixture.
