'Ole needs honest talk with Utd star'

English Premier League

A former Manchester United striker has warned that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to have an honest conversation with one of his stars following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portugal captain has already netted three goals in the two games he has played since his blockbuster return to Old Trafford.

However, his former Red Devils partner in attack, Dimitar Berbatov, has expressed concerns regarding the impact Ronaldo could have on the likes of Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial's game time.

The Bulgarian believes United manager Solskjaer needs to be up front with the Uruguayan forward in order to avoid any potential rift forming.

"I'm not surprised by the immediate impact he (Ronaldo) has made at United," Berbatov told BetFair

"He will only get better as the season goes on. You cannot argue with his goalscoring and the aura that he brings to the team.

"It will be interesting to see how Ole keeps the other players happy. He will have to decide how he uses the likes of Edison Cavani and Anthony Martial. This is when managing a talented squad becomes difficult because players will feel hard done by.

"I hope Ole has had an honest conversation with Cavani about his plans for the team.

"As a player in this situation, you understand that the manager's job is to pick the best team, but you always want to play and become unhappy when you're left out."

Cavani, who also gave up the No. 7 shirt for Ronaldo, has made just one appearance, as a substitute, across all competitions for United so far this season.
