Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained why he decided to start Paul Pogba on the bench against Newcastle United.
The Red Devils bounced back from the 6-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur with a 4-1 thrashing of Newcastle United on Saturday evening.
However, Pogba was surprisingly named on the bench from start before being introduced in the second half.
"Paul had hip and back problems when he was away with France, so it wasn't right to start him," Solskjaer told Sky Sports.
"We have got big games coming up. Everyone has to perform when they come on. I am delighted for him."
While Pogba was reduced to a bench role on the night, there was no place in the squad for young Mason Greenwood.
“Mason wasn’t fit to play so we had to leave him out. We hope he will recover quickly,” he said before the clash.
The Red Devils now shift their focus to their upcoming UEFA Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
