Arsenal have bolstered their squad with the signing of Ghana international Thomas Partey after triggering his €50million release clause.
The Ghanaian had long been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium in recent months, but the move materialised after the Gunners paid the release clause.
The North London outfit have announced that the Black Stars midfielder has signed a long-term deal with the club.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta feels Partey's arrival will certainly bolster the club's midfielder this season.
“We have been watching Thomas for a while, so we’re now delighted to add such a high quality player to our squad. He is a dynamic midfielder with great energy. He brings a lot of experience from a top club that has competed at the highest level in La Liga and the Champions League for several years," he told the Arsenal website.
"We’re very impressed with his attitude and his approach to the game. He’s an intelligent footballer and we’re looking forward to him integrating into our system and contributing to the progress we’re building at the moment at the club.”
Partey becomes the Gunners' fourth signing of the transfer window after the arrivals of Gabriel Willian and Runar Alex Runarsson.
