Ighalo breaks silence on Utd move

English Premier League

Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo has finally broken his silence on his surprise move to Premier League outfit Manchester United.

In the latter stages of deadline day, the Red Devils confirmed that they have signed the 30-year-old on a six-month loan deal from Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai Shenhua.

The move has been met with criticism from former players and pundits, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer feels the player's experience will help the side.

The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer arrived in Manchester on Sunday and expressed his happiness at joining the club he supported as a child.

"It's a dream come true because since I was a kid I followed and dreamt of Manchester United," Ighalo told Sky Sports News.

"But it is a reality now. I cannot say much more now until I get started."

During his previous spell in England, Ighalo netted 40 goals in 100 appearances in all competitions for Watford.

With Marcus Rashford set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Ighalo is set to play a key role in United's push for a top-four finish this season.
