Panagiotis Retsos' time in the Premier League has come to an end, with the Johannesburg-born defender failing to make a single appearance in the competition this season.
Retsos, who was born in South Africa but represents Greece internationally, joined Sheffield United on loan as a deadline day signing in January but has since returned to parent club Bayer Leverkusen without making a league appearance for the club, according to Sheffield United News.
The 21-year-old was one of four loan signings at United this season, alongside Dean Henderson, Richairo Zivkovic and Muhamed Besic, but the club has elected to only extend the deals of the former two players.
Retsos, who has in the past struggled with muscle and tendon injuries, made his debut for the Blades in a 2-1 FA Cup Fifth Round win over Reading in March, but his 14-minute cameo in that match proved to be his only contribution for the club in this campaign.
Although born in Johannesburg, the former Olympiakos starlet has lived in his parent's native Greece since the age of one, and won the first of his five international caps for the European nation back in August 2017.
