Newcastle to 'target' 4 Man Utd stars

English Premier League

Now under new ownership, Newcastle United are seemingly ready to raid Manchester United in the next transfer window, having reportedly set their sights on four of their stars.

The Magpies, who now have new mega-rich owners on board following a successful takeover last week, are expected to spend a big chunk of cash in January in a bid to get out of the relegation zone.

The Daily Telegraph has seemingly backed up that theory by reporting that the club could spend as much as £190 million (R3.8 billion) at the turn of the year without breaking any Financial Fair Play rules.

It is believed Newcastle have identified United attacker Anthony Martial as a potential target, with the Daily Mirror stating that the Frenchman could be on his way out of Old Trafford as playing opportunities seem few and far between since Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho's arrivals at the club.

According to Transfermarkt, the striker is valued at £29.7 million (R603 million) despite netting only seven goals in 36 games last season.

Another Red Devils player whose game time has been affected by new signings is Jesse Lingard, who is also said to be on the Magpies' four-man wish list.

The England international's contract in Manchester is due to expire in June 2022, and United could be tempted to sell him at a cut price in January rather than let him leave for free at the end of the campaign.

Another potential Newcastle signing is Donny van de Beek, who has been linked with an exit since the latest transfer window, when his agent revealed that the midfielder was close to joining Everton on loan in search of more first-team action.

Meanwhile, Eric Bailly is seemingly also set to part ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team after Raphael Varane's arrival at Old Trafford, which has seen the Ivory Coast defender fall down the pecking order, and the Magpies are said to be interested in acquiring his signature.
