Salah equals Mane in all-time EPL charts

English Premier League

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane's so-called rivalry has come to the fore once again after the Egyptian star drew level with his Liverpool teammate in the all-time Premier League goalscoring charts.

Salah and Mane both started for Liverpool on Sunday as the reigning Premier League champions suffered a demoralising 4-1 defeat at the hands of title rivals Manchester City, who are now clear favourites to walk away with the trophy this season.

The former found the back of the net from the penalty spot in the first half but his effort proved to be little more than a consolation goal, although it did see him draw level with his strike partner on the Premier League's all-time goalscoring charts.

Both players have now netted 91 times in the English top-flight, with the Egyptian reaching the tally in 143 appearances across spells with Chelsea and the Reds, while Mane has played 214 matches in the league during his time at Anfield and with Southampton.

Following his goal on Sunday, Salah also remains on course to win a third Golden Boot award, with the two-time African Footballer of the Year currently leading the race for the award with 16 goals this season, three clear of nearest rivals Bruno Fernandes, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Heung-min Son and Harry Kane.

He and Mane, who are said to enjoy a rivalry of sorts, now share fourth spot in the league's list of all-time African goalscorers, behind only Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Emmanuel Adebayor and Didier Drogba, the latter of whom is the only player from the continent to score more than 100 goals in the competition.
