Arsenal star set for shock Utd switch?

English Premier League

Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi after the Frenchman landed in hot water with the club's board.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise with the Gunners since his arrival from Ligue 2 side Lorient in a deal worth a reported £7-million.

However, since the departure of Unai Emery, Guendouzi, who earned a senior national team call-up to the World Champions last year, has started only four out of 12 games under Mikel Arteta.

According to L’Équipe, the Frenchman has doubts around Arteta's faith in him and would be open to leaving the club in the off-season after being charged with misconduct for the controversial incident in the 2-1 defeat to Brighton last week.

It's believed that Guendouzi is concerned about his lack of development since the arrival of the Spaniard and would be open to a change of scenery.

Real Madrid, Internazionale and Manchester United have all been credited with an interest in the highly-rated France youth international.

The Gunners are said to have set a valuation of €40-million for his services with United seemingly leading the race with their domestic rivals open to the cash influx due to the financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

If the move materialises it would be the first transfer between the two club's since former captain Robin van Persie dumped the London-based outfit for the Red Devils during the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
