Man Utd 'resigned to losing' star player

English Premier League

Manchester United have reportedly accepted that they will lose one of their star players in the near future.

Paul Pogba has been linked with an exit from the club for a long while now, with many potential suitors have reportedly shown an interest in securing his signature, including teams such as Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona.

Seemingly in an attempt to keep the 28-year-old, whose contract is set to expire at the end of this campaign, United offered him a bumper new deal worth £400 000 (R8.3 million) a week in the second half of the 2020/21 season but he rejected it, according to Eurosport.

ESPN has now reported that the club has made its final decision regarding Pogba's future, with the Red Devils said to be resigned to the fact that they will lose him as a free agent in July 2022.

If no agreement on a new deal is reached within the next two months, the Frenchman, who rejoined the Premier League giants in 2016 for £89 million (R1.8 billion), will be allowed to negotiate a potential move to another club in Europe from January 2022.

United could also recoup some of the money they spent to sign Pogba if they agree to sell him in January as opposed to losing him for free in July.
