Penandes: Mou calls out United's Bruno

English Premier League

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has taken a swipe at the club's latest star Bruno Fernandes after he helped the Premier League giants qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Fernandes has been lauded for his instant impact at Old Trafford since his €55-million switch in the January transfer window from Sporting Lisbon.

The 25-year-old playmaker invigorated the Red Devils into a more aggressive attacking side with his style of play, while revitalising the form of Anthony Martial.

However, Mourinho couldn't resist taking a sly dig at his compatriot after he netted United's 14th penalty of the 2019/20 season in their 2-0 win over Leicester City this weekend - which earned them third place in the English top-flight.

"Bruno came in, was fit, played very well, improved the United team and also proved to be a great penalty taker, one of the best in the world, because he had about 20 to score," he told Portuguese publication Record.

Fernandes has scored 10 goals and registered eight assists in his first 20 appearances for the club in all competitions since his mid-season arrival.
