Man Utd in player contracts crisis?

English Premier League

Manchester United are reportedly running the risk of seeing a mass exodus of players within the next 18 months.

The Red Devils squad may appear to be star-studded affair, but seven players, including the likes of Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard, are linked with a move away from Old Trafford as their contracts are due to expire at the end of this season.

This could be just the tip of the iceberg for United, though, with the Premier League club having another eight players whose current deals are set to end upon the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign.

This could prove a major stumbling block in the Manchester side's pursuit of a successor for interim boss Ralf Rangnick ahead of next season, with the club having reportedly stepped up their search for a new permanent manager this week.

With Ronaldo only signing a two-year deal when he rejoined United in the previous transfer window, he could be one of the stars who makes an exit from Old Trafford in the near future, especially considering recent reports that he has a potential desire to return to Real Madrid.

The likes of David de Gea, Fred, Diogo Dalot and Marcus Rashford could also be set for their own departures if they do not agree new deals before the end of the 2022/23 season.
