'Cristiano Ronaldo is an alien'

English Premier League

An ex-Manchester United star has rubbished suggestions that Cristiano Ronaldo is not a hard worker, and described him as an "alien" among humans.

After Ronaldo's brace against Atalanta on Tuesday night, he became the oldest player to score two or more goals in a single game for the Red Devils in European competition, according to Sky Sports

Although the striker may be in the latter stages of his career, the 36-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down as he continues to break records.

Despite Ronaldo's nine goals in 12 matches since returning to Old Trafford, though, the former Real Madrid star was recently criticised after statistical analysis from The Athletic suggested that he was one of the least hard-working forwards in the Premier League.

Ex-Red Devils and France attacker Louis Saha has now refuted that claim, insisting that his former teammate has an unmatched work ethic.

"Solskjaer has to be very happy with [Ronaldo's] return, because he is an alien," Saha said at a Sport Integrity Global Alliance online event, per Marca.

"He can play in any team or league in the world and he will always score goals. He has a dedication and a capacity for sacrifice that nobody else has.

"My relationship with him was simple because we were both hard working. If you don't like Cristiano as a teammate, it's because you're not a hard worker. It's that simple.

"Besides, he was a guy who always had a smile for you. He was intimate and respectful.

"On the other hand, sometimes I had the feeling that it was impossible to defend him.

"I would love to play with him again. Even though it's the 90th minute, you feel like he can still score a goal, and if he has to score five in a game, that's what he does.

"Also, if there is a player with worldwide influence, that's Cristiano Ronaldo. I'm not speaking only about football.

"Also on a social level. Many people are aware of what he does. He is a role model and an inspiration."
