United back Mou amid Zidane talk

Mourinho has come under criticism after the club's trophyless campaign during the 2017/18 season despite significant investment in the transfer market.

And after a subdued off-season with just Diego Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant arriving at the club, the former Chelsea boss expressed his frustration over the lack of new arrivals.

However, the biggest factor contributing to his uncertain future has been the alleged poor man management with constant fall-outs with underperforming first-team players and the playing-style that's uncharacteristic of the club's ethos of attacking-minded football.

But United source has revealed to BBC Football that Mourinho, who signed a new five-year deal in January has the backing of the club's hierarchy.

"Why would we discuss Zidane when there is no job?" - said the source.
