Manchester City are close to signing Netherlands international defender Nathan Ake from AFC Bournemouth after having a £40-millon bid accepted.
Ake has developed into one of the most sought-after ball-playing central defenders in the Premier League since joining the Cherries from Chelsea in 2017 in a deal worth a reported £20m.
After three ever-present seasons in the English top-flight, he's now set to leave the South Coast outfit after their relegation was confirmed to bolster City's defensive options that were found wanting during the 2019/20 season.

According to BBC Football, the deal includes £1m in add-ons for the imminent deal, with the 25-year-old now expected to complete a club-record sale for Eddie Howe's side.
The Citizens head coach Pep Guardiola is said to have made Ake a priority signing after the injury issues to Aymeric Laporte last season and the inconsistencies of England centre-back John Stones.
Ake made featured 146 times in the Premier League since making his first-team debut at Chelsea in 2012 and has been capped 12 times by the Oranje.
